One Man’s Belief That No Hero Should Go Without Help.
Heal the Hero Foundation was founded in 2015 by Lou Schwartz — a man with a rare gift for listening with empathy and seeing the best in people. After learning the devastating statistics on veteran suicide, sitting down with people living with PTSD, and realizing how many never get or seek help, Lou knew he had to act. His compassion, and his unwavering belief in the potential of every person, led him to found one of his greatest professional achievements: Heal the Hero Foundation.
Our journey began with veterans — many of whom had transitioned into roles as first responders, while others faced significant challenges reintegrating into civilian life due to the trauma of military service. Determined to make a difference, we partnered with Vitanya Brain Performance to deliver science-based solutions that help veterans and first responders overcome these challenges. Through this collaboration, we’ve seen lives transformed — restoring balance and hope for those who serve and protect.
Lou passed away, but his hard work and legacy live on. The foundation he built continues to expand and improve the lives of our nation’s heroes — carrying forward the belief that no one should have to face what they’ve survived alone.
